Manuscripts must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere. Preprints and conference abstracts are acceptable if disclosed at submission with a link.

What authors agree to at submission
Similarity screening
Every submission is screened for textual similarity. Reports above 15% excluding references are returned for revision; plagiarism results in rejection and notification of the author's institution.
Authorship and contributions
Authorship requires substantive contribution to design, data, or argument, plus approval of the final version. Contributor roles are recorded at submission; changes after submission need written agreement from all authors.
Research ethics
Studies involving humans require approval from a recognised ethics committee and informed consent; animal studies require institutional animal-care approval. Provide committee name and reference number in the methods.
Conflicts of interest and funding
Declare all financial and non-financial interests and every funding source with grant numbers. A declaration of “none” is required when nothing applies.
Generative AI
AI tools may not be listed as authors. Any use for drafting, translation, coding or analysis must be disclosed in the declarations, and authors remain fully responsible for accuracy and attribution.
Data availability
Authors are encouraged to deposit data in an open repository and must include a data availability statement explaining how data can be accessed, or why it cannot.
Peer review and appeals
Review is double-blind with two independent reviewers. Authors may appeal a decision once, in writing, addressed to the Editor-in-Chief with a point-by-point rebuttal.
Corrections and retractions
Errors affecting interpretation are addressed through a published correction; serious misconduct or invalid findings lead to retraction with a public notice.
Copyright and licensing
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a licence to publish. Articles are released open access under Creative Commons Attribution terms, with attribution to the original work.
